Funny Patents - 3

If you want to patent an invention, it must offer a solution to a problem. Specifically, it must meet the following three conditions: (1) Novelty: at least some aspect of it must be new; (2) Inventive Step: the new aspect(s) must not be obvious or easily deduced; (3) Industrial applicability: the invention must be able to be made or used in an industry. I am not quite sure how these five U.S. patents made the cut, but they sure are entertaining!
US7066592B2: Frameless glasses attaching to body Link: https://patents.google.com/patent/US7066592?oq=Patent+No.+7%2c066%2c592 Abstract: A frameless glassware assembly attaching to boy piercing studs or similar structures attached to the human boy. One disclosed design consists of an elastomeric C-clip fixedly attached to one distal end of a metal arm, which is attached to a frameless glass lens assembly. This design allows for frameless eyeglass attachment to eyebrow studs, the nose studs of a user, or similar structure via one or more elastomeric C-clips. One embodiment allows the frameless glassware to attach to eyebrow studs and the second allows the frameless glassware to attach to a nose stud. Both of these designs are frameless and avoid side wire or similar earpieces common to hold glassware to the face of a user. US4233942A: Animal ear protectors Link: https://patents.google.com/patent/US4233942 Abstract: This invention provides a device for protecting the ears of animals, especially long-haired dogs, from becoming soiled by the animal's food while the animal is eating. The device provides a generally tubular shaped member for containing and protecting each ear of the animal, and a member to position the tubular member and animal ears away from the mouth and food of the animal while it is eating. US5901666A: Pet display clothing Link: https://patents.google.com/patent/US5901666?oq=Patent+No.+5%2c901%2c666 Abstract: A vest or belt is integrally formed with tubular, pet receiving passageways which extend around the wearer's body and terminate in pocket-like chambers for feeding and retrieval. Outer wall portions of the passageways are transparent so that a pet moving along the passageways can be seen by a spectator. Graphics or indicia depicting the pet's habitat or a pet story are marked on the vest and extend across portions of the passageways masking delineations or depicting the passageways as burrows. US269766A: Animal-trap Link: https://patents.google.com/patent/US269766?oq=Patent+No.+269%2c766 US6681419B1: Forehead support apparatus Link: https://patents.google.com/patent/US6681419?oq=Patent+No.+6%2c681%2c419 Abstract: A forehead support apparatus for resting a standing users forehead against a wall above a bathroom commode or urinal or beneath a showerhead. The apparatus includes a mounting member adapted for attachment to an upright bathroom wall either above the commode or urinal or below the showerhead. A compressible head support member is attached to and extends from the wall and said mounting member. The head support defines an elastically deformable or resilient forehead support surface which is spaced above the floor and from the wall a distance sufficient for the user to lean his forehead there against and be supported while using the commode or urinal.
