Patents that changed the world
This video is about five patents which really affected life
of every individual. Basic information of each patent is as below.
1. USD672769: Electronic
Device (Assignee: Apple)
2. US3789409: Navigation system using satellites and passive
ranging techniques (Inventor: Roger L. Easton)
Link:https://patentimages.storage.googleapis.com/dd/07/4f/b6f5e1415d59a3/US3789409.pdf
Abstract: A navigation system wherein the navigator's location is obtained by
determining the navigator's distance (or range) from one or more satellites of
known location. Each satellite transmits multifrequency signals that are
derived from a stable oscillator which is phase synchronized with the
navigator's equipment that produces similar multifrequency signals. Phase
comparison between the signals received from the satellites and the locally
produced signals indicates both the distance between the navigator and the satellites
and the navigator's location. In determining his location, the presence of the
navigator is not revealed since no interrogatory transmission by him is
required.
3. US8697359B1: CRISPR-Cas systems and methods for altering
expression of gene products (Assignee: MIT)
4. US7149534 B2: Peer to peer information exchange for mobile
communications devices (Assignee: Ericsson Inc)
Abstract: The invention
discloses various methods whereby mobile communications devices, connected to a
communications network can share data by acting as both clients and servers.
Specifically contemplated is the sharing of GPS assistance data. Also disclosed
is the formation and use of hierarchical groups of mobile communications
devices for the purpose of information sharing.
5. US7071258B1: Nano-scaled graphene plates (Assignee: Global
Graphene Group Inc)
Abstract: A nano-scaled
graphene plate material and a process for producing this material. The material
comprises a sheet of graphite plane or a multiplicity of sheets of graphite
plane. The graphite plane is composed of a two-dimensional hexagonal lattice of
carbon atoms and the plate has a length and a width parallel to the graphite
plane and a thickness orthogonal to the graphite plane with at least one of the
length, width, and thickness values being 100 nanometers or smaller. The
process for producing nano-scaled graphene plate material comprises the steps
of: a). partially or fully carbonizing a precursor polymer or heat-treating
petroleum or coal tar pitch to produce a polymeric carbon containing micron-
and/or nanometer-scaled graphite crystallites with each crystallite comprising one
sheet or a multiplicity of sheets of graphite plane; b). exfoliating the
graphite crystallites in the polymeric carbon; and c). subjecting the polymeric
carbon containing exfoliated graphite crystallites to a mechanical attrition
treatment to produce the nano-scaled graphene plate material.

Really liked your post. Keep writing. I am here to share my thoughts on design patent. For ten years, the concept patent covers the inventor (with an additional five years upon payment of renewal fees). The patent office must be persuaded that the design being patented is applicable only to this invention in order to gain approval for a design patent.
