Apple Patents Indicate a Folding iPhone or iPad and a Waterfall Display

On Feb 14, 2023, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) issued Patent (US11579722B2) to Apple that that would allow users to touch multiple parts of a device, not just the screen, to carry out functions. Here below are basic details about Patent.

From drawing illustrations of Patent (US11579722B2), it seems invention discloses foldable phone or tablet that has a wraparound screen.

One of the interesting features as described in patent is “Virtual Shutter Button”. As mentioned in description uses could touch the side of device to control the camera and use also could slide their finger up and down the side of the device to control the volume.

Currently, Samsung and few other companies are having commercial models of foldable smart phones. Abuzz going around anticipation of the USA technology giant Apple could be bringing a foldable device soon. However, currently it is unclear when it is going to available in market. Possibilities of utilization of patented inventions (US11579722B2) in “foldable iPad” cannot be ruled out.
